Four People to Inspire Lettering Lovers

Are you searching for that person that has the perfect touch of typography in their life? I’m sure that lovers of lettering and typography have already found people they aspire to write like, but are you wanting more? Whether their style is classical or whimsical, you follow them because they are an inspiration. I have a mix of people who I follow, (I’ve already mentioned one of them on numerous occasions) and to inspire you more I am offering you a small list of typography gurus so you can find one that fits you even better!

  1. Dawn Nicole

This woman has made a name for herself in my opinion. She has over 50 THOUSAND email subscribers and received a fifth of that just within one month. She has lettering worksheets, downloadable wallpapers, cute quotes—you name it she seems to have done it. Her style is quirky and cute, yet she still maintains a professional business. Dawn Nicole is definitely someone to follow when you want lettering inspiration!

  2. Kelly Klapstein

She travels to conferences to teach lettering and even wrote a book. Kelly created her brand called Kelly Creates, and last year her products finally hit the stores! For my birthday my Mother-in-law to be bought me Kelly’s dream pens, aqua brushes, and her small dotted notebook. (Being a lefty I find regular calligraphy pens difficult and almost unusable, but brush pens have been relatively easy to handle and use. So far so good!) Kelly also has two Facebook groups that I am part of, and people post questions and even their own work. It’s a very welcoming group run by a sweet and calm woman!

  3. Cristina Tamas

My Life in a Bullet is run by Cristina. She has some great YouTube videos showing her bullet journal designs, reviews on pens and journals, and even a video on a DIY pen organizer. Using this video I made my own, albeit not as well as she did. I even made a small one out of the leftover board for my seven-year-old brother’s Legos. I haven’t checked out her blog as much as her videos, but if the videos are any representation of her work she is talented and lovely.

  4. Bullet Journal

Bullet journaling was created by Ryder Carroll, who speaks on TED Talks as well as other podcasts. This blog isn’t necessarily focused on the lettering and typography behind his bullet journals, but it still is a nice place to get inspired. The company sometimes interviews other designers and businessmen and women who bullet journal, and discuss the how and why of this planning life.

I know this isn’t a very long list but I hope it will inspire you, or at least satisfy some craving for pretty alphabets. If you want more posts like this one, let me know in the comments below. I follow a lot of artists on Instagram and would be more than willing to share them with you all.
